Who says that art has to be a picture on the wall? Art is so much more than that. In fact, art is everywhere around us. You don’t need to visit an art gallery or a museum to experience art firsthand. You simply need to look at the world around you. If you can open your eyes to the possibility of art, you will see it everywhere you look.
Let’s explore this concept a little further…
What can Art do?
Art is a very powerful thing. It can enrich your life and allow you to look at things in a different way. From how you dress to what you choose to put in your home will show your taste for art. Adding a coloured scarf to an outfit, placing a vase on a tabletop, choosing a bold fabric for your curtains, or threading coloured laces into your shoes are all an expression of art.
The most powerful thing that art does is that it makes your life bigger. It opens you up to the possibility of feeling, reacting and responding to the art you see around you.
Feeling and Interpretations
Anything that sparks a response, that you connect with and that resonates with you can be art. Remember that song that you can’t get out of your head, the movie that had tears streaming down your face, the poem that had you in fits of laughter, or the cushion cover you couldn’t stop looking at because it was so beautiful? All expressions of art.
Art makes you feel. And the great thing about it is that it can make everyone feel a different thing. It often feeds passion with will spark conversation, opinions, and sometimes good-natured arguments. But no matter what the interpretation is, it is encouraging you to step outside of your box and have that interaction with people.
Where is art?
Well, as I mentioned above, art is everywhere. It is the pattern on a fabric, it is the grain in a piece of wood, it is the birds chirping in the trees, the cover of a gorgeous journal, the busker on the corner playing tunes on his guitar, the kids filming a play on their smartphones, the possibilities are endless.
